Stan Miriklis

You could say I'm quite new to cycling, my background growing up was playing basketball. Whilst I was playing in a championship competition I started weightlifting at school and was coached by a teacher who was a Commonwealth Games level weightlifter. I won the Victorian title in two age groups and two weight divisions and picking up a bronze medal in the Australian championship.

From there I moved to motocross where I raced competitively for four years. My best friend had a massive accident and ended up in hospital for over a year, after frequently visiting him I started to think maybe it's time to do something else. So after pondering that I grabbed my mountain bike and started riding the Yarra trails.

All of sudden I found myself on a Thursday night at West Gate Park lining up in a 'C' grade dirt crit. This was where I found my passion for racing mountain bikes! Competing in C grade for over a year I battled my way against the field and my brother to get my first win, and then onto winning the season, after that I found myself in B grade once again battling against my brother for the podium places each week. Soon enough we were up in A grade toughing it out with the 'big boys'!

Racing against my brother Harry Miriklis has always driven both of us to succeed, where we proved this by teaming up at the Jeep 24hr race in 2010 winning the pairs on our GIANT Anthem SL's!! 24hr racing is not only about the riders but the whole team, our pit crew that weekend was amazing (Alicia, Lib and the kids, also Craig and Jer the mechanics) and we could not have done it without you! Finally I'd like to thank Craig, Sally and Sam at Bicycles Inc. Your support is so much appreciated!!
