2XU Falls Creek Triathlon
This past weekend saw us up at the scenic town of Falls Creek in the Victorian Alpine region for the 2XU Falls Creek Triathlon organised by Supersprint events. The triathlon doubled as the Victorian long course championships and as a result a quality field took to the start line.
The race consisted of a 2km swim in the chilly Rocky Valley water storage, a 80km ride on the fully closed off Bogong High Plains Road and a 20km cross country run along the beautiful aqueducts surrounding Falls Creek.
Giant held a mountain bike demo on the Friday afternoon under chilly conditions and setup an expo site next to the ride turnaround point next to the water's edge. We had the latest 2012 Performance On-Road models on display including the 2012 Trinity Advanced SL 0 which attracted a bit of attention from competitors.
The race morning on Saturday was held under clear skies and the weather remained clear for most of the day with only the odd bit of drizzle!
Giant athletes achieved some fantastic results on the day with Mitch Anderson taking out 3rd place in Elite Male, Sam Hume took out 1st place in the 35-39 age group with Damien Angus in 3rd. There was also notable performances from CBD Cycles sponsored athletes Monty Frankish (6th Elite Male) & Sam Rix (1st 25-29 age group).
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the event and we wish everyone the best with their next round of racing, we'll see quite a few of you at Ironman Melbourne in March!
