The new single track was loamy and rocky in parts. It claimed me for 2 OTB's. The event was run well, a few people were taken to hospital and a few bikes were broken. The heat claimed a few as well. Michael and I ended up finishing after our lunch siesta. At the presentation Michael scored the $1500 Merida voucher!!! Luckily he rides one of those as well. So all in all a good weekend. Thanks to CBD Cycles for keeping Michaels rear hub turning and SRAM for checking out my gears after one of the OTB's.
web address in one of my posts below. have sent you a message with my contact details as we probably live relatively close to each other and can meet/ride @ Daisy Hill... maybe for a night ride!
I still have the ay-ups - with these new lights, I have enough light sets for two riders.
If you ride a hard tail you are riding XC I take it!? If you know the trail its easier to set the seat post height for what is coming. Most often I LOWER the seat slightly (more than I would generally like to ride it), especially on trail I don't know or ones I know have good down runs.
This tends to stop the seat whacking the precious parts but you need to master using your knees as suspension as you don't have any suspension on the bike. It might cause a bit more upper leg burn when generally pedalling though.
In addition, you might need to learn how to push the bike in front of you (thats if you haven't already; some people say this is dropping off the back of the seat but you don't always have to push it that far forward). This is a great skill to master even for things like log roll overs etc.
Timing,
speed,
confidence.
Have faith in your reactions and how fast they are, going slow over rocky down sections (or any rocky sections) I find dangerous because you need the forward momentum.
Try practicing on the same runs often to improve your skill and gain confidence. Allow the bike to bounce beneath you; elbows and knees are your added suspension.
thanks for that
does anyone knows if there are any tracks to ride close to hinze dam on the gold coast????

A blast from the past. Especially with Mont entries opening shortly.

Ha ha, that brings back some memories... second 24 hour I rode and I was on the opening lap, absolute chaos especially as there was a big crash right at the start! My friends daughter also rode straight over brown snake in that one too... :-)

I'm hanging out to see just how slow I was in yesterdays RIDE 365's Gravity XC at Kowen East ACT yesterday. The ONYA Giant bike shop team were out in force. Great looking new kit. A great day in spite of the warm weather.

Chance of rain for the Scott. So bring extra clothes and wine. That way you can either go out and ride or stay in and chill.
You can sleep at my place with our ankle biters. They would love the company.

Tried a Fi'zi:k Gobi on the weekend to see how comfy it is. It's definitely better than the Specialized original. Any other suggestions out there?
