For those of us that fondly remember a much higher average speed than we can achieve these days.

yep used to ride to work 5 days a week then go fro a spin around on the week-end.
Then i changed my job and started working in Brisbane, takes me 1.5 hours to drive into the city in the morning on a good day and about 2 hours to get home. So i had to leave home when it's dark and got home after dark. Did that everyday for 5 years and was just stuffed when i got home.
Ah but now i have a new job closer to home, (about 15 -20min drive) so still got plenty of daylight before and after work so slowly, slowly getting back into it again.

Oh yeah, this is certaintly me. This is home for me. 2004, was a bike courier, would be riding all day in-between running up stairs/down malls/past mail rooms in super fit condition. Got a job at the casino, stopped riding, but kept the same diet, which was anything the hell I liked! Result - extra 15kg's. Been back into it for about a year, on/off.

But just recently stopped smoking for first time in 12 years, so exciting to see how/if, my body recovers.

Oh that is so me! What is it with sitting at a computer all day that makes you so tired?
I remind my colleagues that I was fit when I started then my muscles slowly atrophied over the past 7 years. :(

Heh. I was about 24 when I changed career and got a desk job. I managed to ride to work for a few months before the rot set in.

Stay in the saddle!
