Description

For all those sleep deprived Tour De France fans who have been spending every night cheering on the Aussies and occasionally nodding off while listening to Phil Liggett's dulcit tones.

Feel free to join and post your comments. Who do you think will win? What's your favourite stage? And will Thomas Voeckler ever put his tongue away?

No sleep till Paris... Vive Le Tour!

Every year, my husband and I celebrate the last stage of the TDF by having a French-themed evening, complete with baguettes, cheese and French wine. Which made me wonder... who else has TDF gatherings on the final weekend? Post your photos for us all to see (I will create an album). Extra points for creativity - I wanna see flags, food and flair. Let's see this Tour out in style :)

@James Cook: You been watching too many adds. Good car though is Skoda, make a good touring vehicle here in Australia.

I think that Cadel may have hit his peak just before the Tour de France in health and in preparations. Now it's the Olympics, see what happens there.

I think that lady that got hit early in the tour probably has a very sore elbow and some back pain to boot, it was a fair slam.

I think Cadel's problem with his bike was just that the rear wheel had pulled across.

There are some great photos of Cadel on the ABC news web-site:

I've seen or heard nothing about Cadel's problems with his bike/s. Does anyone know what happened?

Wasn't it great to see the Melbourne crowd who cheered Cadel on his home coming. Listening to the great ambassador for our sport shows that some sports people can put more than 2 words together, any footballers in any code as an example.

Crazy Race
Dr. Froid: Come in. Have a seat. So, what made you decide to seek counseling?

Me: I feel like things are spiraling out of control . . . . Say, I thought you guys all had couches. I just finished a hard ride and wouldn’t mind putting my feet up.

Dr. F: That’s only in New Yorker cartoons. Please continue.

Me: I’m depressed. No energy. Life seems hopeless, empty. I’m easily distracted. Sometimes I get really angry. And I feel isolated. I have nothing to say even to family and close friends.

Dr. F: How long have you been feeling this way?

Me: Ten days.

Dr. F: Did something happen ten days ago?

Me: Duh. The Tour de France ended.

Dr. F: The Tour de France?

Me: It’s the biggest bike race in the world with nonstop TV and online coverage and this year’s race was fantastic with Cadel and Andy battling it out and that final time trial was unbelievable, not to mention the crashes and the Alps and Cav winning the green jersey plus Thor putting the hammer down while . . .

Dr. F: So now the Tour is over, you’re saying . . .

Me: I’m suffering from Tour withdrawal. You gotta help me, doc.

Dr. F: It’s perfectly natural to experience a letdown after watching an exciting sporting event, but in time . . .

Me: You don’t understand! I can’t live without the Tour. Believe me, I’ve tried. Last week I bought three BMC bikes, just like Cadel’s. I changed my entire wardrobe to yellow. Each morning I sing the Australian national anthem: Australians all let us rejoice . . .

Dr. F: Please sit down. I’m going to prescribe you an anti-depressant called Perkinup.

Me: Bless you. Wait -- what if I get drug-tested after tomorrow’s ride?

Interesting article on Cycling Centralk site yesterday GreenEdge are looking at Stewy and Robbie Mcewen. That's a nice start.

G'day, at least you guys got to see it. I've been on night shift at work and could only watch live on my days off. I taped the TT and avoided people for the whole night, then some bloke says "how awesome was Cadel!"

Note to self - annual leave for July 2012.
