Description

As cyclists, you know that the only reason we ride our bikes, is so we can have a coffee... right?
So, let's hear your recommendations for the best coffee place in your area. Oh and for you coffee snobs, perhaps you could help out the "newbies" with some coffee tips!

Almond cream filled with meringue topping from Croissant d'Or in Canberra! Yummy http://twitpic.com/6z43pv
Yes well if one could educate a brick wall I would try...alas i'm left to spray offensive grafitti on it, in the hope of being noticed.
Vitasoy Barista makes an alright coffee, I have started to make a point of asking which milk they use and if it's no good, either refusing or going for the black (at the risk of bitter tastebud burn and having your tongue implode). Soy drinkers are people too! We have as much right to a decent coffee as the moo juicers...aka 'normal' folks!
either long black, or skinny cap, depending on how i feel at the time
Had a coffee at Harvest, just near the Wig & Pen, the other day. I'd rate it up there with Lonsdale St Roasters. They only do coffee and cake/biscuits but that's OK at certain times of the day. I drink long blacks, no sugar.

I've been enjoying my long blacks from Connanias Coffee Bar in Tenambit (near Maitland/Morpeth). Not bitter like some of the others in the lower hunter. Josh is a perfectionist.

I keep trying but still no sign of the perfect brew here....loooking...looooking. If I could just get my latte art perfected...other than a piece I call 'The Starscape' which is a lot of random patterns and dots that I then get a toothpick into to make stars...but it's purely accidental and lacking any skill. But if I could at least get a fern leaf going I might open a coffee speakeasy in the back yard, I've got a nice paved area with snow peas and loads of pretty camelias... I'm sure someone must have a tiny marquee....and there's got to be gypsies somewhere witha tea chest bass and a banjo.

If I ever get back down to Mexico I'm there! And I'll make sure I get trained in Latte art for you.

After a bit of driving (1000km) I managed to get the coffee machine connected. The council passed the setup so there is now the first ever cafe in Tenambit, East Maitland!!! I would have liked a coffee but Josh (Melbourne trained) and his sister (Balmain trained) were playing with the grind on the $2200 grinder. It's a real shame when the process of making the perfect cup gets in the way of getting one!

Black Rock in Kiama is our usual stop when we are down that way. Gr8 coffee, good service & an outside area so you can sit and enjoy the world going by

A workmate wrote a handy app for iphone, you can see which coffee shops are close to you and see their ratings or rate them youself. Wherespresso is the app, it is free to download here-

In Bermagui it has to be Mr Jones. But the shop is like the Italian Espresso Bars where you grab a coffee, down it and wander off.
For the view and some nice Santos coffee then The Sundeck Cafe with free Sunday entertainment is also a winner.

Had an enjoyable ride today from Bathurst to Blayney and back home via Hobbys Yards and Newbridge (112km round trip). Stopped at Newbridge Pub where I had a wonderful "flat white". Well worth the stop.
