zane,
i just learnt to drive and it is so hard, foot break, clutch, hand break, change gears and check the blind spot. i have to say that riding a bike is a lot ease. and i would ride the 20 kms to town to work.

great group. I live in Sydney and no car parks in unit, public transport is good, but getting on the deadly treadly is so much better when I can manage it.

I think Rockelle knew I was at my sisters riding Gypsy on the weekend so now she got jealous and lets the air out of her tires, and now that My Pink bike is in getting all fixed up and looking swanky, this will only make matter worse, I shall have to buy her new tires as well to make up for it

We are a nifty 2 minute whirl on the bike into town. I thought for a while, about my partner that he was really forgetful and disorganized, because he'd fly down grab some milk and come home, then 5 minutes later, he'd be back on the bike down for bread or whatever, and on and on it goes all day long..... conclusion he just loves being on the bike, the same pink one I ride! Any excuse will do really. And yeah we have a car mostly used to take our old dog to the beach. Bikes should be everywhere and cars should be seen occassionally but seldom used.

The distances are an issue if you have family interstate. It'd be great if we had a high speed rail system that you could easily take your bike on. Getting bikes on planes and in busses is expensive and annoying. Definately major cities should be locked down to special needs and service vehicles, PT, pedestrians and bikes only.

I think it was a Mayor of Vancouver (?) who said 'Everyone has the right to come into town, but everyone does not have the right to bring a tonne of metal with them....
Something like that

I have no sympathy for people who complain about paying for parking in the city, its just stupid if you dont like it park near a station and get the train in
add the lack of parking
and parking fines to that list

Cars should only be used if time is an issue and the
distance is more than 50 km. I would love
To ride further but when married with children
Sacrifices need to be made. Any polatitions out there
Want to make that law?

A group that I fit right into! My wife and I lived the last 10 years in Asia where we would get about on local transport and two wheels. When we moved here to Aus it was a bit of a shock because neither of us had our driver's license and it was like we were suddenly expected to drive. Well, still no car in our carport, just my bike at the end. My wife walks everywhere with the kids. It's been hard this winter, but we've managed to wing it.
Cars shouldn't be the go-to mode of transport, maybe one of a variety of options
Emma-Lee StillEmma-Lee Still on Thursday, 28 July 2011 23:27

well done, isnt it easier to ride and faster to ride then to drive in asian cities if the distance is less then fifty km

Kissed my car BYE-BYE about 4 years ago.
Have been riding a variety of bikes since.
The new TCR:
OMG: I'm in love. Wanna buy it flowers & take it home to meet my mum !

Absolutely THE best thing to happen to me in many a long moon.
If you will pardon the crudity. . . . .
I am happier than a dog with 2 dicks in a street full of lamp-posts !

AND
saving a heap of $$$$'s as well.
What sort of . . . . . . . drives a car ?
Emma-Lee StillEmma-Lee Still on Thursday, 28 July 2011 23:28
